<Poem>
鏡湖三百里，
菡萏發荷花。
五月西施採，
人看隘若耶。
回舟不待月，
歸去越王家。
<End Poem>
<Translation>
On the Mirror Lake three hundred li around
Gaily the lotus lilies bloom.
She gathers them—Queen Hsi-shih, in Maytime!
A multitude jostles on the bank, watching.
Her boat turns back without waiting the moonrise,
And glides away to the house of the amorous Yueh king.
